Zambezi Expeditions is African Bush Camps’ exclusive mobile camp that is located in Mana Pools National Park, on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River. This is a more rustic camp than their other products, nevertheless, it is just as carefully laid out, with everything you need for a safari in the bush.
Zambezi Expeditions is easiest accessed via private air charter to Mana Main Airstrip, which is only 1 hour 30 minutes from the capital city of Harare, or 2 hours and 30 minutes from Victoria Falls, with a 40 minute game drive transfer to camp. Guests are also able to self-drive into camp, or take a boat transfer in from Chirundu.
Zambezi Expeditions is a mobile camp that prides itself on going back to “old school” safari experiences, mostly concentrating on walking safaris. Power in camp is supplied by generator, with charging facilities available in the main area. The camp has a fire circle area, as well as a small splash pool off the main entertainment area, where dining is done in a communal and intimate fashion. There are also guide tents available.
The camp itself is made up of 6 luxury Mini Meru-style tents in total. Each tent has the following amenities:
• En-suite bathroom;
• Bucket shower;
• Fan;
• Mosquito net & repellent.
Zambezi Expeditions is booked on an all-inclusive basis, which means your payment covers your accommodation, meals, beverages laundry, and activities. Excluded are your transfers (except by game vehicle from the Mana Main airstrip or Nyamepi), travel insurance, visa fees, flights, items of a personal nature and staff gratuities.
The activities on offer at Zambezi Expeditions are:
• Morning or afternoon game drives;
• Walking safaris (guides are armed when walking);
• Bird watching;
• Canoeing;
• Catch and release shore fishing.
*Please note – due to the wild and remote location, only children over 12 years old are allowed, but walking and canoeing safaris are restricted to those over the age of 16.
If you want a more “back to basics” safari in one of Zimbabwe’s pristine wildlife and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, then we highly recommend Zambezi Expeditions in Mana Pools National Park.
**Please note that Zambezi Expeditions is closed from 01 December – 31 March due to heavy rainfalls and the migration of animals.
