Wild Heritage is a collection of attractive thatched lodges/chalets/cottages situated at Charara on Lake Kariba with views of the Kariba Mountains on the one side and Zebra Island in front of the lodge and Charara bay on the other side. The Lodges are comfortable double-story self-catering lodges that are ideal for a wonderful, affordable holiday to relax and chill out. The lodge is about 40 kilometers east of Kariba town situated in Mashonaland West Province, Zimbabwe.
Lodge number 17 at Wild Heritage is located on the sunset side of the peninsular, offering stunning views of Lake Kariba. There is car parking in the driveway/garden for 1-2 vehicles. Arrangements can be made for a boat space if you are bringing one with you. All the properties at Wild Heritage are not fenced, and therefore often have wild animals walking around the buildings. Elephants commonly drink out of the swimming pool, with hippos grazing on the lawn at night, so please be vigilant with the wildlife.
The downstairs area of the lodge has two fully equipped kitchens, one is open plan off the lounge area with a gorgeous breakfast bar. The second kitchen is a very spacious room off the first kitchen, where the stove and a larger cooking area is. The comfortable lounge has a double and triple couch set, and a flat screen TV, DSTV is available so bring your own decoder and smart card. Also located on the lower level is a bedroom with 2 x ¾ beds, which has air con and mosquito nets. Adjacent to this is a bathroom with toilet, basin and shower. Straight out the front of the lodge is a wonderful verandah entertainment area. There is a dining room table which seats 8, as well as a more relaxing seating area with reclining chairs which overlooks the double plunge pool. The unique thing about these pools is that the 1st pool is ideally located under the thatch roof, so you can sit and enjoy the water, while not being directly in the scorching sun.
When you move upstairs you find another two bedrooms that have 2 x double beds in each, as well as mosquito nets and air con. These two rooms share a bathroom with a bath and a shower, toilet and basin. Both bedrooms open out on to a shared deck which has majestic sunset views of the lake.
Please note that as all the lodges are thatched there is to be STRICTLY NO SMOKING and NO wood braai’s, except for at the communal pool area. Wild Heritage is located in a national parks area, and your neighbours are very close, therefore noise levels are to be kept at a minimum.
