Warthogs Safari Camp is a well known affordable accommodation option located on the shores of beautiful Lake Kariba. The camp is ideally situated not far off the main Mkuti – Kariba road, only a 10 minute drive from most of the local shops, harbours and Kariba Dam Wall border post.
The camp is made up of a central entertainment area which has a bar, swimming pool, and restaurant that is open to visitors. There is DSTV available in the bar, and WiFi services upon request at an additional cost as well as full cell phone signal.
There are 4 en-suite safari tents for guests, as per below description:
- ‘Zebra’ has a double bed.
- ‘Ele’ has 2 twins beds which can also be converted in to a double bed.
- ‘Nyati’ has a double bed and a bunk bed.
- ‘Shumba’ has 3 single beds which can be converted in to a double bed and single.
Each tent has a front patio overlooking the lake, with comfortable chairs to unwind in while watching the bird-life and wild life walk down to the lake to drink. The en-suite facilities include a shower, a basin and toilet. All rooms have a free standing fan and plug points for charging of electronic devices.
Warthogs is linked to the national grid, and therefore appliances like hair-dryers and electric shavers may be used, so long as there isn’t a power cut. If the power does go out, there is a back-up generator able to supply the entertainment area, with solar lights provided for the tents. The hot water is heated by “Rhodesian boilers”.
As well as the safari tents, there are also camp sites with or without power points for those with their own camping gear or 4×4 roof top tents. The camp area has hot showers, toilets and braai stands.
There are no fences around the premises, which allows the local wildlife free reign to move about, ensuring you nearly always have encounters with elephants, hippos and zebra around the grounds on a daily basis.
Warthogs Safari Camp is the ideal place for both those wanting to get back in touch with nature, as well as anyone needing a stopover en-route to Matusadona, Zambia or Mana Pools.
