The Bulawayo Club offers a timeless elegance in a fast-changing world. The club is located on the Corner of 8th Avenue and Fort Street. Being in the heart of Bulawayo allows you to get out and about easily, and have a real feel for the city.
The building itself is historical, being first built in 1895, with the foundation stone laid by Prince George, who later became King George VI of Great Britain. The Club was originally established as a social hub for officers of the armed forces and other gentlemen. Ladies were allowed in once or twice a year on special occasions, provided they enter through the side door. Gone are those days, thank goodness!
The Bulawayo Club has made a huge effort to restore and refurbish as many of the original features as possible, and you can feel this just by walking through the rooms. There is a historical library, as well as a fully equipped snooker room and two well stocked bars.
The Bulawayo Club offers accommodation in a selection of suites and double rooms. There are 15 bedrooms in total, with a maximum capacity of 30 guests. They are designated as:
- 2 x Executive Double Suites
- 5 x Premium Double Rooms
- 7 x Double Standard Rooms
- 1 x Single Standard Room
All are en-suite with either a bath or shower, and a free standing fan and mosquito net. There is free Wi-Fi and DSTV available. Hair-dryers are available from reception. There are complimentary tea and coffee facilities in all the bedrooms.
The Club is also equipped to cater for conferences, seminars, training and private functions, with 4 different conference rooms available. The largest of these can accommodate a maximum of 150 guests if set up cinema style.
Daily fine dining is offered in the grand dining room, or for a more low-key meal, coffees, light lunches and house favourites are offered in the beautiful Atrium. Guests need not worry about their vehicles, as secure parking is provided, with a 24 hour security guard. Laundry if offered upon request at an extra cost.
