Lodge number 22 at NZOU Lodges is a charming, 5 bedroomed single storey thatched, self-catering house, located in the Charara area near Wild Heritage. All 5 bedrooms have individual fans, aircon and comfortable 2 x 3/4 twin beds. The first 2 rooms are located on the right hand side of the house and share a bathroom which has a toilet, basin, bath and shower. The rest of the bedrooms are on the left hand side, with 2 sharing another bathroom that also has a basin, toilet, bath and a shower. There is an additional toilet and basin to service the guests needs. The fifth bedroom is accessed via a door adjacent to the pool. This is the main bedroom and is the only en-suite bedroom which has a basin, toilet and a shower.
Number 22 is situated on the sunset side of the peninsular, offering stunning views of Lake Kariba (when the lake levels are high) and the sunsets as mentioned. There is an open plan lounge and dining area in the centre of the house that has ceiling fans. There is also a small indoor lounge area for if the weather is bad. There is an outdoor seating area where meals can also be served, with the fenced off pool neighbouring this. But the most popular feature is most definitely the viewing platform, accessed via a set of stairs next to the outdoor entertainment area. For those wanting to cook outdoors, there is a braai area located at the front of the property. As the house is thatched, please just be aware of this and don’t let any embers drift towards the house.
There are no fences around NZOU, so it is common to be eating a meal, while watching the resident elephants walking past. Classified as self-catering, Number 22 Lodge is fully equipped with everything you will need. There is 1 lock-up safe in one of the bedrooms for any valuables you wish to secure. The caretaker is always very willing to help in any way he can. As well as the private pool, there is a community pool a short walk from the house – but please be very aware of wild animals when walking to or from this area.
