Nyamatusi Camp is one of African Bush Camps’s most popular tented camps, located on a private concession in Mana Pools National Park, on the flood-plain of the mighty Zambezi River. The remoteness of Nyamatusi offers those wanting privacy the perfect place to unwind, while enjoying the wilds of Africa. Nyamatusi lightly translated means “wild game” – and you are sure to encounter your fair share of animals.
Nyamatusi is easiest accessed via private air charter to Mana Main Airstrip, which is only 1 hour 30 minutes from the capital city of Harare, or 2 hours and 30 minutes from Victoria Falls, with a 45 minute game transfer to camp. Guests are also able to self-drive into camp or catch a boat transfer from Chirundu.
Nyamatusi is an eco-conscious camp that was built with all-natural materials, designed to blend in with the bush. The camp is run on solar power, with a backup generator for emergencies. The camp has a large double-story entertainment area, including 2 bars and a wine cellar. The boma and pool are popular features, and there is also a lovely little gift shop for those wanting to buy something to take home to share their experience with their family and friends. An added feature is the pizza oven. For those travelling with private guides, there are guide tents available.
The camp itself comprises 6 luxury tents in total. Each tent has the following amenities:
• Indoor & outdoor shower;
• Private plunge pool;
• Air conditioning;
• Private deck;
• Mini bar;
• Mosquito net & repellent;
• Dressing gown & slippers;
• Charging facilities.
Nyamatusi is sold on an all-inclusive basis, which means your payment covers your accommodation, meals, beverages, laundry, and activities. Excluded are your transfers (except by game vehicle from the Mana Main airstrip or Nyamepi), travel insurance, visa fees, flights, items of a personal nature and staff gratuities.
The activities on offer at Nyamatusi are:
• Morning or afternoon game drives;
• Walking safaris (guides are armed when walking);
• Bird watching;
• Canoeing;
• Catch and release shore fishing.
*Please note – due to the wild and remote location, only children over 12 years old are allowed, but walking and canoeing safaris are restricted to those over the age of 16.
Nyamatusi is most certainly a destination to add to your bucket list of safaris. Any trip here will create memories to last a lifetime.
**Please note that Nyamatusi Camp and Mahogany are closed from 06 January – 31 March due to heavy rainfalls and the migration of animals.
