National Anglers Union was officially founded at a meeting in Gweru on the 14th April 1945, (it was later changed to N.A.U.Z. after Independence.)
The Society was formed to generally do everything possible to promote the fullest co-operation between all the fishing associations around Zimbabwe and Government in all matters pertaining to angling and fish culture.
The Interprovincial Fishing Competition for men has been going since the seventies, and the ladies and juniors since 1986.
The compeition venue is alternated yearly between N.A.U.Z. Charara Site in Kariba or Olive Beadle in Binga.
