Mteri Lodges

Mteri Lodges are set on the banks of the Mteri Dam in a 10,000ha game park, only 25kms from Chiredzi town in the Lowveld of Zimbabwe. There are two lodges that are built in the same layout. They are only 200m apart via the water, but 10kms if driving between them.

Nhongo lodge

Nhongo lodge is a mirror image of Nyari but is sold on a self-catering basis as opposed to fully catered and guests share the central kitchen facilities. This lodge is made up of 9 thatched rooms which can accommodate 21 people. Similar to Nyari they are set up as below:

Both lodges have swimming pools (unfenced) and only Nyari Lodge has DSTV and Wi-Fi in the main entertainment area. The Lodge’s central entertainment areas offer gorgeous panoramic views of the dam over the lovely green lawns. The main buildings have high thatch roofs with ceiling fans, ensuring they stay nice and cool. The wood theme is carried through to the dining area, bar and lounge area.

Nyari’s catered option is sold on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis, with light lunches sold separately.

Mteri Dam is known as one of the best bass fishing dams in the world. As well as bass fishing, there is good bream fishing from about November to April. Most guests bring their own fishing boats, but there are boats for hire on site for either full or half day excursion, with sundowner cruises a real hit. Additional activities, recently introduced are game drives, where you have the opportunity to see some of the wildlife in the game park: buffalo, zebra, eland, giraffe and warthogs – to name a few. Being located on a dam the birding in this area is also noteworthy. Mteri is close to Gonarezhou National Park, so another popular activity is for the ladies in the group to go on a day trip to Gonarezhou while the men folk spend the day fishing. A win-win for everyone!
