Affordable, Comfortable and Scenic
Lomagundi Lakeside is an Association of privately owned homes that were built on the lake’s edge roughly 50 years ago. These homes and self-catering chalets were built by the various fishing clubs around Rhodesia/Zimbabwe, for members who wanted a basic home away from home, where they could bring their families and just get away from their normal routine.
Various accommodation is available for hire by pre-booking. The Association itself hires out the self-catering chalets, which are equipped for all your basic needs.
They have available:
• Eight x 2 bedroomed self-catering chalets
• One x 3 bedroomed self-catering chalets
• Two x 1 bedroomed self-catering chalets
(Chalet 1 has been altered to offer wheelchair access.)
Lomagudi Lakeside also offers 12 beautifully shaded camp sites with braai areas, communal ablutions, water and power points. Mopane wood bundles and ice blocks are available to buy from the reception.
There is a gorgeous pool, available for all residents and visitors (please note that swimming is at your own risk and children without adult supervision will not be allowed to enter).
Situated on the bank of the recently upgraded harbour is a centrally located restaurant and bar called ‘The Dome,’ which is open from 07:00 – 22:00, seven days a week. There is a Thursday night Peri Peri Chicken special, which is a great hit with locals and visitors alike. As well as offering meals, The Dome also has Wi-Fi facilities and full DSTV (for those men who can’t miss the rugby!)
Adjacent to The Dome is the children’s play area, which provides entertainment for the little ones, while the parents can take a load off and enjoy a meal and a cold drink.
The entire Lomagundi Lakeside site is fenced with an electric fence for the security and protection of its residents and visitors, BUT please be aware that this does not keep the hippopotamuses out – they wander around the entire site every evening while grazing on the beautifully kept green lawns. Extreme caution must be taken when walking around after dark – please ensure you bring a decent torch.
For those who want a little something more, there are plenty of activities that can be locally arranged:
• Fishing Charters
• Dam Wall and Crocodile Farm Tour
• Observation point, Project Noah Memorial and St. Barbara’s Church Tour
• Boat Cruises
• Game Drives
• Village Tour
• Tiki catamaran Hire
• Matusadona Day Trip
• Mana Pools Full Day Trip
