Lilayi Lodge is a historic landmark, located on the outskirts of the south of Lusaka in Zambia. It is owned by the Miller family and was originally a cattle farm but the part of the farm that the lodge is situated on was turned into a game reserve in the 1970’s. It became Lilayi Lodge in the early 1990’s and was completely renovated and refurbished in 2013, to the stunning high-end lodge it is today.
Located at the entrance to game farm is the Lilayi Elephant Nursery, (recently brought to the attention of the cinematic world through the film “Holiday in the Wild”, starring Rob Lowe and Kristin Davis). This piece of land was generously donated to Game Rangers International (GRI), a non-profit organisation, who in partnership with Lilayi Game Farm has become home to a number of orphaned elephants that have seen the loss of their families due to poaching.
Getting to the lodge is an easy road transfer from Lusaka, roughly 25kms from the city centre, mostly on tarred roads, with the final few kms being on a well maintained dirt road. For those wanting to fly in, the closest airstrip is only a 10 minute drive away.
