A truly unforgettable African stay
Hornbill lodge is an intimate family built, owned and run lodge on Mica Point overlooking Lake Kariba. The lodge was built by the Millar family, originally so that each member of the family could have their own little piece of paradise on the lake. The individual rooms were then converted into the now popular accommodation rooms, and the lodge was opened and made available to the public. Each room is unique and individual, giving fantastic views of the lake. Three of the rooms are open fronted with no doors – giving the guests a truly unforgettable African stay.
There are 5 rooms are made up of:
- 2 x Deluxe Rooms (inter-leading with air conditioning) each sleeps 3 pax. (1 king or 2 twin beds + 1 x Indian daybed);
- 2 x Standard Rooms with a king beds that can be converted to twin beds;
- 1 x Triple Room (1 double bed & 1 twin bed).
All the rooms have beautiful views of Lake Kairba, with daily housekeeping and complementary laundry service (time permitting). A camp cot can be provided on request for babies. All rooms are equipped with:
- En-suite bathroom with shower (1 of the Deluxe rooms has a bath);
- Toilet and wash basin;
- Complimentary tea and coffee making facilities;
- Ceiling fans;
- Mosquito nets;
- Free Wifi;
- Patios with outdoor seating.
The property is fully walled and security fenced for the guest’s protection against wandering wildlife. The central entertainment area consists of a stunning plunge pool with beautiful views of the lake, with a bar, lounge and dining room areas inside the building. The lounge boasts a television with full DSTV and free Wi-Fi. Meals will be provided either in the dining room, or on the deck by the plunge pool. Hornbill lodge has one of the best reputations for providing genuine home grown and healthy meals in the whole of Kariba and is especially popular with vegetarians.
Hornbill Lodge is ideally located only 3kms from the Zambian border, 20 minutes from the Kariba Airport and just a short drive to most harbours, making it the ideal stop-over resort. Daily housekeeping and complementary laundry service (takes 24 hours) are also provided for the convenience of the guests.
