Fisherman’s Cove is a beautiful, 2 storey house situated in a prime position on the shores of Kariba overlooking the lake. The lodge is located near the Cutty Sark Hotel and harbour, and as the lodge is built close to the lakes shore and faces the prevailing winds, this helps to make this lodge one of the coolest in Kariba.
The most popular feature of Fisherman’s Cove is the gorgeous infinity pool that is adjacent to the large verandah running the full length of the lodge on the upper level. Guests can relax in the cool pool water while talking to other guests on the patio, all the while watching the hippos in the bay in front of the lodge. A short distance from the verandah and next to the unfenced pool is the braai area. Crispy Fresh (which is located at the near by Cutty Sark) can can supply wood bundles and charcoal at an additional charge.)
There is a spacious open-plan lounge and kitchen area with stove, fridge, toaster and electric kettle. The lounge has a comfortable 5 piece lounge suite to relax in, with 6 stools at the breakfast bar leading in to the kitchen. There is air conditioning in the lounge/kitchen. The verandah has another 6 piece lounge suite, a dining table and chairs able to seat 10 people, as well as 2 wooden benches where you can enjoy the stunning views of the lake from.
There are 8 bedrooms in total – described as below:
Upper Level (adjacent to the verandah)
- 2 x twin rooms;
- 2 x double rooms with queen size beds (1 x en-suite);
- 1 x separate toilet;
- 1 x bathroom with shower, bath and basin.
Lower Level (accessed by a staircase off the passage way)
- 2 x twin rooms;
- 2 x double rooms with queen size beds;
- 1 x bathroom with toilet, bath, shower and basin.
*All the downstairs bedrooms have doors leading out on to the lawn with a set of garden furniture for each room’s guests to use.
*All of the bedrooms have air conditioning units and mosquito nets.
*Bathroom towels are provided but please bring your own swimming pool towels.
Fisherman’s Cove does have WiFi, but this will be at an additional cost. There is no TV or DSTV at the lodge, however, for sports lovers, DSTV sport is provided in the main bar at the Cutty Sark. Water is provided by the municipality, so guests are encouraged to bring their own drinking water. The property is not fenced, so guests are asked to keep vigilant when it comes to wild animals and your valuables.
Fisherman’s Cove is a serviced lodge so no need to bring cleaning materials or toilet paper. However, please bring your own personal toiletries. A maid will service and clean the lodge each morning. The lodge is self-catering, but guests may hire a cook for an extra US$30.00 per day. Please bring your own food stuffs or feel free to contact Crispy Fresh to provide. If you purchase from Crispy Fresh, goods will be delivered and placed in fridges and freezers prior to your arrival.
If you don’t feel like cooking or hiring a cook, the main Cutty Sark Hotel has the “Galley Bistro” and Coffee shop, which offers simple, fast but tasty meals. There is also a public bar facility at Cutty Sark.
Check-in time is 2p.m, and check out time is 10a.m (unless otherwise organised).
